Join us for tea, cookies, and conversation to share and learn about ongoing research at Penn: the what, the why, and the how. Today's tea features Professor Brian Spooner, Penn Department of Anthropology. He'll be speaking on two books that he is working on. One is on the Iranian revolution and the Islamic Republic of Iran in the context of the longterm history of Iran (starting with Cyrus the Great) and the Middle East. The second is on the larger context of the former: a short history of the world in purely social terms, i.e. the history (and explanation) of the differential growth of community size in different parts of the world at different times, and its relation to developments (positive and negative) in the modern world.

Relax, listen, ask questions, share your own experiences; use one of our mugs or bring your own. We look forward to seeing you at the Research Tea!
