Join us for a scholar showcase, featuring Nakachew Amare, Penn Libraries' first Holman Africa Fellow for African Health and Medicine Research. 

Nakachew completed research as a visiting fellow in partnership with the Zilberman Family Center for Global Collections, the Department of African Studies, and the Holman Biotech Commons. Learn more about his background, research, and recommendations for fellow researchers during this capstone presentation, to be held in the Biotech Commons Reading Room.

Nakachew's presentation will include:

  • An overview of his PhD research: “Person-centered comprehensive abortion care: the experiences of internally displaced women and girls in humanitarian settings in Ethiopia.”
  • His time at UPenn as a Holman Fellow
  • Key takeaways from his fellowship
  • Advice for undergraduate and graduate students on research: finding and using research opportunities, designing. and conducting problem-solving studies, and leveraging networking
