The Great Chemistry Search-off 2024: Synthesis Planning Week
Event box
SciFinder-n and Reaxys meet again, this time joined by Science of Synthesis. Building on what we learned during Substructure Week, we present the databases with three final challenges: general methodology searching, specific reaction searching, and retrosynthetic analyses. The synthetic banquet is completed by the added ingredients of e-EROS and Fieser for reagent searching. Bring your own reaction or synthesis problem to derive maximum benefit from this session! This event will take place in Vagelos 4000 in the Chemistry Complex.
Everyone loves a good competition, and we at the Chemistry Library are no exceptions. Inspired by cooking shows we love to watch, we are proud to present the second Great Chemistry Search-Off. In this series of training seminars, the databases are the competitors, and you get to put them through their paces each week, comparing their capabilities as you learn to perform three thematic tasks. At the end of each session, attendees will rank the databases based on their performance in each task and determine which tool(s) will earn the coveted honor of “Stellar Resource.”
Each session will last for 75 minutes, including time for questions and answers, and you can attend as many or as few as you would like; you don’t need to come to all five. For an added challenge, you can bring your own “ingredients” (a device and queries or research questions that match each week’s theme). You can attend in-person or online, whichever is more convenient or comfortable for you.
