This session will examine all things SciFinder and Reaxys.  We will kick-off the session by searching SciFinder, SciFinder, and More SciFinder, focusing on advanced techniques in text-based searching, structure searching, and reaction searching.  Half-way through, we will learn All About Reaxys, looking at advanced text, structure, and reaction search techniques there.  Participants who are only interested in SciFinder should plan to come from 14:00-14:45; people who are only interested in Reaxys should come from 14:45-15:30.  The savvy searcher will stay for the entire session!  Please note that this session may repeat topics taught in previous weeks of the search-off and is intended to give a good, all-around introduction to the advanced searches that can be run in each system.  This event will take place in Vagelos 4000 in the Chemistry Complex.

More information:

Everyone loves a good competition, and we at the Chemistry Library are no exceptions.  Inspired by cooking shows we love to watch, we are proud to present the second Great Chemistry Search-Off.  In this series of training seminars, the databases are the competitors, and you get to put them through their paces each week, comparing their capabilities as you learn to perform three thematic tasks.  At the end of each session, attendees will rank the databases based on their performance in each task and determine which tool(s) will earn the coveted honor of “Stellar Resource.”

You can attend as many or as few sessions as you would like; you don’t need to come to all five.  For an added challenge, you can bring your own “ingredients” (a device and queries or research questions that match each week’s theme).  You can attend in-person or online, whichever is more convenient or comfortable for you.

Registration has closed.
