In this talk, Jessica Martucci will discuss the collections of Mary C. Brennan (1903-1992), a nurse who served in the U.S. Army Nurse Corp throughout World War Two. Brennan was an avid traveler, amateur photographer, and collector of photographs. Because of this interest, her papers provide a rich photographic record of her life and work as a military nurse stationed in Hawaii and Guam between 1941-1946. This lecture will draw on Brennan’s experiences to discuss the impact of military nursing opportunities on women’s lives and careers. Join Jessica Martucci, Curator at the Barbara Bates Center for the Study of the History of Nursing, to learn more about this fascinating woman and her career.
