Writing a Data Management & Sharing Plan Using DMPTool

This workshop teaches researchers how to write a Data Management & Sharing Plan (DMSP). Data Management & Sharing Plans will soon be a requirement for all federally funded grant applications, and effect funding decisions. This workshop will demonstrate how to use DMPTool, a free, open source, and easy to use tool to write DMSPs that meet funder requirements. This session will also introduce the Data Management & Sharing Plan review service, where an expert data manager provides feedback on your DMSP to improve its success prior to submitting.
Learning Outcomes:
- Understand the basic requirements of writing a DMSP
- Be able to use DMPTool to streamline your DMSP writing
- Recognize on campus data management support, including the DMSP review service
Audience
- Researchers who need to write a DMSP for a grant proposal
- This session is discipline agnostic and applies to all researchers
- Teams who are interested in writing a DMP for project management purposes, such as for lab or team environments, and not for a grant submission are encourage to join.
Prerequisites:
- None - this session does not expect previous experience writing a Data Management & Sharing Plan. The session is designed to be applicable to seasoned grant applicants and first time researchers.
