The concept of authorship is fundamental in copyright law, but the law does not clear define who -- or what -- an author is. With the rise in popularity of generative AI tools, one question that has come up is when creative works produced by or with the assisanace of these tools are "works of authorship" and protected by copyright law. In this copyright chat, I will discuss authorship in copyright law and when works generative by artificial intelligence may qualify for copyright protection
