The Creative Commons licenses provide an easy way for rightsholders to share their works with the public while promoting downstream uses of their works and still retaining some degree of control over what users do with those works. Recently, many have wondered how these licenses work with generative AI and if the license that prohibits commerical uses will prevent a generative AI developer from using a work to train an AI model. In this session, we will discuss what the Creative Commons licenses are, how they work, and how they interact with generative AI. We will also discuss any questions you may have about copyright, open access, open licenses, and the Creative Commons licenses.
