Step outside and unwind with an afternoon of creativity in one of Penn’s most picturesque spots. Nestled beside the iconic red-brick arches of the Fisher Fine Arts Library, the lush Shakespeare Garden sets the stage for En Plein Air Painting—a perfect blend of art, nature, and relaxation.
Whether you're in the mood to delicately decorate a bookmark or dive into a full watercolor scene, this event welcomes all skill levels and artistic appetites. Supplies and inspiration will be on hand, along with friendly guidance from Penn Libraries Intern, Russell Magee and the team from the Arthur Ross Gallery.
After expressing your creativity outdoors, come inside to visit the Arthur Ross Gallery's newly opened exhibition, Scattered Earth, Sounded Depth: Penn Fine Arts MFA Thesis Exhibition, running from May 1–30, 2025. This compelling showcase features the work of Eissa Attar and Alvin Luong, offering poetic reflections on landscapes and cultural histories through installation, moving image, and printmaking.
Come for the art, stay for the sunshine, and grab a light snack or two while you paint. All are welcome—just bring your imagination!
