Compare text searching and alert setting in four popular databases for chemistry and the related sciences: SciFinder-n, Web of Science, Scopus, and PubMed, and see which database reigns supreme in the areas of topic searching, author searching, and helping you stay up-to-date in your field.  No prior experience is necessary; bring your own research queries to put the databases through their paces!  This event takes place in the Chemistry Library Computer Lab.

Registration is required. There are 9 in-person seats available. There are 49 online seats available.

More information:

Everyone loves a good competition, and we at the Chemistry Library are no exceptions.  Beat the midweek slumps during the month of July with the Chemistry Library’s third annual Great Chemistry Search-Off.  In this series of training seminars, the databases compete for the honor of “Stellar Resource” as we demonstrate their prowess in three thematic challenges.  The topics will be the same as last year.

Sessions will last for 75 minutes, including time for questions and answers, and you can attend as many or as few as you would like; you don’t need to come to all four.  For an added challenge, you can bring your own “ingredients” (a device and queries or research questions that match each week’s theme).  You can attend in-person or online, whichever is more convenient or comfortable for you.
