Use SciFinder-n, Reaxys, the Cambridge Structural Database, and two specialized polymer property database to perform three tasks: locate organometallic structures with specific coordination spheres, retrieve crystal structure files and articles discussing crystal structures, and profile polymers by monomer and by property.  Bring your own ingredients (structures/attributes for which you want to search) to increase the difficulty of the challenges.  Organic polymers and any kind of organometallic substances work best.  This event takes place in the Chemistry Library Computer Lab.

Registration is required. There are 10 in-person seats available. There are 50 online seats available.

Everyone loves a good competition, and we at the Chemistry Library are no exceptions.  Beat the midweek slumps during the month of July with the Chemistry Library’s third annual Great Chemistry Search-Off.  In this series of training seminars, the databases compete for the honor of “Stellar Resource” as we demonstrate their prowess in three thematic challenges.  The topics will be the same as last year.

Sessions will last for 75 minutes, including time for questions and answers, and you can attend as many or as few as you would like; you don’t need to come to all four.  For an added challenge, you can bring your own “ingredients” (a device and queries or research questions that match each week’s theme).  You can attend in-person or online, whichever is more convenient or comfortable for you.
