This documentary follows Kurdish writer and translator Kawa Nemir as he navigates exile, language, and cultural displacement while undertaking an ambitious project: translating James Joyce’s Ulysses into Kurdish. From Turkey to the Netherlands, Nemir carries his mother tongue with him, finding in language both a sense of home and a powerful means of resisting cultural erasure. The film offers an intimate portrait of a writer in exile and a meditation on translation, literary freedom, and the enduring vitality of the Kurdish language.
