Learn to sew a handmade book with stiff covers, using either traditional binding materials or materials found around the home. We will use a classic "sewn-on-tapes" stitch that's been used for hundreds of years to create blank journals that can be used for writing, gifts, or as a model for future art books. Depending on the materials you choose, this can have an elegant or a funky upcycled look.

You have three materials options:

(1) Purchase a kit with fancy papers and supplies online.

(2) Gather materials from around the home, included recycled materials.

(3) Borrow tools and receive a supply list from PennLibraries. You will be responsible for return shipment of tools. (Register at least 2 weeks in advance; we regret that we can only ship to U.S. addresses.)

A list of materials is available here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ZzL9-gYLrptLW9oIqd86Epi4jrCOjU29NNQ0Rv420a0/edit?usp=sharing

You can email the press with any questions.
