Our June CIDAR discussion will be about collecting and working with data about gender and sexual orientation. Gender is a common demographic question that appears on registration forms to census polls to research surveys. We'll reflect on whether collecting data about gender is really necessary in many cases and, when it is, how to ask about it in ways that accommodate people across the gender spectrum. We'll also discuss security and privacy concerns associated with collecting data about gender and sexual orientation. Erin Cross from the LGBT Center will be joining us.
