Navigating the Sea Change: Editors and Publishers Explore Open Access
Event box
We welcome you to join editors and publishers of established and emerging open access journals and books as they share how they decided to move their publications to an open access model. Rebecca Stuhr and Christine E. Weller from the Penn Libraries will moderate the panel. Panelists include Elizabeth Demers (Senior Acquisitions Editor, University of Michigan Press), Mary Francis (Director of Penn Press), and Camilla Mackay (Senior Editor, Bryn Mawr Classical Review), who will discuss their work and where they see advantages and challenges in transitioning to an open access publishing model. The panelists will describe the changes they see in the field of publication and discuss emerging trends in the sharing of scholarship as open access becomes an increasingly large part of the publishing landscape. The panelists will also share questions they are hearing from their editors and authors, and the conversations they are having about this transformation in the field of publishing. The audience will have an opportunity to submit questions to the panelists before, and during, the virtual Zoom-based panel.
